Perched above Eagle Harbour, the Eagles Nest House lives up to its name – elevated, still, and deeply rooted in its surroundings. Designed in 1965 by architect Peter Kaffka, the home is a pure expression of West Coast Modern: cedar, brick, and glass arranged in honest simplicity. Light filters through its single-level plan like mist through trees, revealing details that speak to its original owner's connection to place – including fireplace stones sourced from the Burrard Street Bridge project he helped engineer.
In photographing this home, I focused on capturing not only its architectural language but also its atmosphere – the calmness it holds, the way it frames nature without distraction. It’s a home that doesn’t shout. It invites. And through quiet compositions, I aimed to show just how gracefully it continues to age, tucked within forest and sky.
